UT Administration Chandigarh to plant 1,75,000 saplings under Greening Chandigarh Action Plan in few days.

On Thursday, UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore announced the Greening Chandigarh Action Plan 2021-22, which was created by the Chandigarh Department of Forest and Wildlife.

On the occasion, Badnore praises the work of the UT administration Chandigarh and states that the people of Chandigarh, who are up for their love of nature. They will certainly enthusiastically support and join in the Forest Department’s efforts to preserve the city’s biological treasure. He adds that the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is a suitable day for the release of this action plan because it is the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought.

Greening Chandigarh Action Plan by UT Administration Chandigarh

During the years 2021-22, the strategy aims to plant 1,75,000 seedlings. The Forest Department has a target of 75,000 saplings, the Horticulture Wing of the Engineering Department has a target of 40,000 seedlings, and the Municipal Corporation has a target of 60,000 saplings, in addition to free sapling distribution to city residents.

Chandigarh has retained 46% of its geographical area under forest and green cover, according to Debendra Dalai, IFS, CCF. Greening Chandigarh Action Plan 2021-22 has been under the greening authority to boost green cover in the UT Administration Chandigarh. He says that today is an opportunity to recognize that land degradation neutrality is achievable. It is possible by strong community participation and collaboration at all levels. It indeed contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change and supports a green recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Because of the tremendous contributions of nature-loving people and other stakeholders.

The woodlands, according to Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Forests), Chandigarh, are a source of well-being and pleasure. Moreover, a forest near Chandigarh protects a diverse range of plants and fauna. It is forming rich biodiversity and contributing to environmental stability under UT Administration Chandigarh.
