This is how Covid-19 patients in Tricity are getting free assistance

From oxygen cylinders to packed homemade food, many people and organizations are supplying possible help free of cost to COVID-19 patients

With COVID-19 cases rocketing, rescuers from different aspects of life have come forward to extend a helping hand to those adversely affected by the pandemic.

Many individuals and groups are offering essential assistance at no cost, ranging from oxygen cylinders to packaged homemade food.

On social media, there is a slew of posts providing assistance to those who need it. Many of them have begun to receive a large number of requests for assistance from Chandigarh and the surrounding region.

Helping Hands for COVID-19 Patients

COVID-19 patients under home isolation are receiving 24-hour treatment at Guru Ka Langar Eye Hospital in Sector 18, Chandigarh. Oxygen tubes, pulse meters, as well as oxygen concentration equipment, are among the items they have.

“We have been offering langar since last year, and now we have commenced this initiative,” said HS Sabharwal, secretary of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society, which manages the hospital. So far, we’ve given Covid patients 65 oxygen cylinders and about 250 oximeters in the Tricity.”

For the past few days, Sanstha, a non-government organization, also has been offering home-cooked food to Covid patients in Chandigarh and Panchkula.

“So far, we’ve fed about 16 patients in Chandigarh and Panchkula with home-cooked meals. Furthermore, we want to expand our service to Mohali as well,” said Harshita Sodhi, the organization’s vice-president.

On Monday, Hotel Altius, in partnership with Shri Guru Granth Sahib Sewa Society, began distributing free meals to families who are unable to cook at home. “We received hundreds of calls on the first day and catered to about 200 patients in Chandigarh,” said MPS Chawla, the hotel’s owner. “Moreover, we’re also going over the Covid test reports to make sure the service isn’t being abused,” he added.

The 3B Foundation Group began delivering food items to Covid patients in Chandigarh. On Day 1, according to Bhushan Sharma, the group’s managerial trustee, more than 43 distributions were successful.

Harvesting Farmer Network, a Chandigarh-based start-up, has also offered assistance. They are helping with discounted grocery, vegetable, milk, and medicine delivery to Covid patients’ homes throughout the city.
