The district administration allows shops in Mohali to open on an odd-even basis from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., which is a huge relief for traders and shopkeepers.
“In exercise of his authority vested under Section 144 of the CrPC, the District Magistrate has directed with effect in continuity and partial alteration of previous orders that shops in the Mohali district should remain open on an odd-even basis between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.,” read a district administration order issued here today.
According to the order, “no shopping malls or single/multi-brand retail standalone shops shall open excluding shops selling essential goods in these malls/complexes.”
However, all shops in the Mohali district’s three subdivisions will remain open.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Girish Dayalan stated that even several shops would be allowed to operate on even dates. The dates such as May 10, 12, and so on, while odd number shops will operate on odd dates, such as May 11, 13, and so on.
According to Dayalan, MC Mohali will be in charge of labeling shops as odd-even via respective market associations. This will be following the overall supervision of ADM/SDM.
Restrictions under market associations for shops in mohali
Market associations would be required to nominate Covid monitors, whose names would be prominently displayed. According to the DM, who added that they would be directly responsible for maintaining adherence to Covid norms.

All private offices should ensure that their staff/employees undergo checkups on a regular basis. They should preferably exercise this every two weeks, according to the study.
According to Dayalan, anyone exhibiting symptoms should be under isolation and check right away.
